STATEMENT

I’m Kelly, a multidisciplinary artist based in Hampshire, UK. I cross the boundaries of different art mediums, bridging the worlds of art, craft, technology and psychology.

I create geometric paintings combining traditional painting techniques with highly detailed op-art using a symphony of en plein air, embroidery and data visualisation. Building on the exploration of human connections to nature and our growing, immersive relationship with technology, I embroider forms that are visual interpretations of our online realities that explore nature’s unseen energies, letting our spirits re-root and rise with the wild.

I am interested in the harmony between colour, form and texture, and how, when dancing together on canvas can interpret alternate plaines of thought, feeling and existence. Through brightly embroidered smooth geometrics forms, I seek to create work that tames the noise around us. Weaving a slice of clarity amongst the speed and tension of everyday life through a rhythm of art that is meditative, restorative and comforting, connecting the viewer back to the landscape and with ourselves.

I am inspired by a plethora of artists such as Frank Stella, Alejandro Otero, Bridget Riley and Al Held for their beautiful geometric compositions, as well as artists such as Turner and the Impressionists.
